1. The library has more than 27000 tangible books with 9,267 titles, 1500 DVDs, 700 Music and learning CDs. The library has access to 32,000(over) full text online journal access through online databases- INASP/ PERI consortium, HINARI, JSTOR, EBSCOhost, etc; full text e-books from Taylor & Francis eBestseller Packages; online magazines/ periodicals/ Newspapers and thousands of primary source documents and working papers.

2. The library hours are: 9; 00am to 12; 00midnight every day.

Students are allowed to borrow/ return books:- Sunday- Thursday: 9:00am to 10:00pm

3. Students can borrow up to 4 books for 10 days and 1 DVD/CD for 2 days. Each book must be returned or renewed within 10 days. Faculty/ staff can borrow 6 books for 15 days and 1 DVD/CD for 2 days.


4. A user can renew a material two times. Users may also come to the circulation desk before the due date and request a renewal. User can also renew the library books via online.


5. AUW library materials are shelved at two floors according to subject. To find floor description a user need to click Library Location and Floor Description to get his books on required subject.


6. AUW library has 8 daily newspapers both Bengali and English. Newspapers are The Daily Prothom Alo, The Daily Somokal, The Daily Azadi, The Daily Purbokon, The Daily Star, The Dhaka Tribune, The New Age, The daily Sun and one weekly newspaper The Holiday.


7.When print textbooks are required, the University will provide them.


8.For enquiries to specific departments, please click Help Desk.


9.All student, faculty and staff of the Asian University for Women are welcome to use the Library.


10.A new user of AUW should consult with library officer of circulation desk. User need to show their identity Card to concern officials at library. Then library officer will provide a membership card and need to fill up. After entering the details of the student in library database, a student can be treated as a member of the AUW library.


11.Membership is valid till separation date from AUW.


12.Library Membership card is required to borrow or return the books and other audio visual materials. If you don't have the Library Membership Card, you may be allowed to enter the Library but you cannot issue or return books and other materials. Remember that your card is personal and non-transferable, so you cannot give it to another user to use it for borrowing. If it has been lost or stolen you should report it to the librarian to avoid unauthorized use.

14. For more information on the electronic resources subscribed by AUW library please visit Then you will find alphabetical listing of databases then you need to click recommended databases in which you want to search for articles.


15.Please contact with librarian or circulation desk to get access of AUW library online resources from outside of AUW network as AUW has remote access.


16.Be sure that when you find a book on the catalogue, is it available or issued. If you see that it is available then write down the correct call number in order to locate where the book is shelved. If you do not find it on the shelves, check where the Library keep the book awaiting for shelving. If you still cannot find it, see if somebody is already reading it in the Library. If the book is not already borrowed by another member, please notify the librarian so they can search for it.


17.Week 1- Notification and observation, Week 2- per day 2 taka for each item and Week3-4- per day 5 taka for each item if items are not returned within 30 days you will lose library privileges.


18.Library patrons must pay library for replacement, if borrowed items are lost or damaged.


19.Your username will be your AUW ID and password will be your library membership number.
