I teach World Civilizations at Access Academy in AUW. Originally from Assam, a state in the North-Eastern region of India, my interest to teach a course that focuses on aspects of region, culture and geography around the world, is rooted in my inter-disciplinary training that I received during my Masters in Development Studies from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and in my MPhil in Social Sciences from Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta. I have completed my undergraduate studies in Political Science from Ramjas College, Delhi University. I also hold a Post-graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan , New Delhi.
In terms of my professional expertise, I have worked with South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People (SANDRP) as an Assistant Coordinator and have dealt with issues related with hydropower development in the North-Eastern region of India, on a first hand basis. Before that, I have worked with Forum for Policy Dialogue on Water Conflicts in India as a Research Associate on a project to build a campaign demanding Right to Water and Sanitation in India. Apart from this, I have worked as a freelance consultant for projects dealing with access and delivery of education in both urban and rural settings in India.
