On 7th November 2017, the AUW TALE Space was filled with curious students of all academic levels to familiarize themselves with the services offered by the university’s Center for Career Development and International Programs (CDIP). Although this event was mainly organized for the undergraduate students, the enthusiasm and curiosity of the Pre-Access and Access Academy (University bridge programs) students were highly notable by their presence.
The session started off with Ms. Lucille Jade Galvan (Associate Director) introducing the team, who gave a brief description about their respective responsibilities at CDIP. She further elaborated the department’s mission and vision together with the services offered which includes career counseling, coaching, professional training and workshops, collaborations with various national and international organization/institutions for facilitating internships, exchange programs, grad school and job placements.
Following this, Ms. Ameena Chowdhury (Manager) shared information about the internships and international exchange program placements for the SY 2016-17 while Ms. Nargis Hajran (Junior Fellow) spoke about the AUW Mentorship program. CDIP Student Assistants, Sharmila Dhungana and Samiha Sahel Muma (final year) also shared their personal experience of being part of the exchange program in Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea. Later, Ms Nargis Hajran (Junior Fellow) gave an overview of the AUW Mentorship Program where the mentees have an opportunity to learn and be advised by a mentor, who is typically an experienced professional, on topics such as time-management, career choices, networking, etc.
