Individual counseling is deliberated to assist a willing client with a wide variety of concerns. Professional Counselor offers client with a safe and nonjudgmental environment to discuss her concerns, to discover new ways to resolve these concerns and to improve personal, academic and social functioning. Counselor works as a resource of support and assistance during periods of stress, emotional problems and conflicts that interfere with academic work and/or personal lives. Individual counseling sessions are generally 50 minutes in length. Rapport and collaboration between client and counselor are important to reach the goals of counseling process which may require few follow up sessions.
Group therapy is a powerful tool for enhancing growth. On need basis Counseling Unit also provides group counseling where counselor acts as a facilitator. The power in group therapy lies in the unique opportunity to receive multiple perspectives, support, encouragement and feedback from other individuals in a safe and confidential environment. These interpersonal interactions can provide group members an opportunity to deepen their level of self-awareness and to learn how they relate to others. The group is a resource of providing support, offering alternatives or gently challenges you to develop healthier behavior patterns.
