Life is full of opportunities and potentialities. Every individual can rejoice the beauty of life and has the capacity to overcome life challenges. Challenges of
life can be often difficult in a number of different ways, for example, facing problem with new environments, confusion in deciding on a major or career path, struggling in relationships, or making friends. In such circumstances, we may feel anxious, depressed, confused or overwhelmed at some point of life. At times often these situations can be easily managed but sometimes beyond our control and then we need help dealing with such feelings and problems.
Studying and living at Asian University for Women (AUW) is full of excitement. The excitement of exploring the university and making new friends can be fun but moving to a new country and adjusting to a new culture can be stressful also. Everyone has to go through similar stages to overcome the hurdles while adapting to a new culture or life. Some students are able to over-come them quicker and with less stress, while it can be a lot difficult for some.
Sometimes while sharing such feelings with friends, family members, colleagues or significant others, they may misunderstand and judge us as wrong or information may not be kept confidential. For that reason, at some point we feel like that we are alone, neglected, frustrated and depressed and so on. Talking with a professional counselor can help to deal with such difficulties, explore potentialities to reach the peak of self empowerment.
With this concern, the Counseling Unit of Asian University for Women (AUW) offers confidential mental health services through a listening ear, appropriate therapeutic procedure and incorporates mind, emotion, physical and spiritual aspects in a holistic way to help students, faculty members and staffs to make positive changes in life.
Counseling Unit is to support an environment that fosters personal growth, development, and psychological wellbeing of students, faculty members and staffs through direct counseling service, awareness program, and preventive measure.
