April 17, 2017, London, England – AUW Vice-Chancellor Professor Nirmala Rao is confirmed to speak at Times Higher Education’s World Academic Summit to be held from September 3 – 5, 2017 in partnership with King’s College London.
This prestigious event will bring leaders from the world’s top ranked universities together with Nobel laureates and leaders from governments and businesses to discuss how cities and higher education institutions might collaborate to fuel the world’s knowledge economy towards sustainable long-term growth. Titled “Collaborating for a Better World: New Models of Research Universities,” the Summit will set the agenda for how higher education institutions can contribute to solving the most pressing global challenges of our century.
Last year, the 2016 World Academic Summit was held at the University of California, Berkeley. This year, the Summit will be held in Europe for the first time, with key speakers including Andrew Hamilton, President, New York University; Frederic Mion, President, Sciences Po; Sir Paul Nurse, Nobel laureate and Director of the Crick Institute; and Louise Richardson, Vice-Chancellor, University of Oxford.
